Hanoi Telecom Participates in the Northern Information and Communications Sports Event

The Northern Information and Communications Sports Event has drawn over 700 athletes from the Northern provinces’ Department of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and ICT businesses.

On the morning of October 14, 2023, 30 athletes from Hanoi Telecom joined the 700 athletes from the Northern provinces’ Department of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and various ICT businesses to participate in the Northern Information and Communications Sports Event. The competition included five collaborative sports: mini football, badminton, tennis, tug of war, and sack race.

The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Information and Communications, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Mr. Pham Duc Long, along with leadership from the Ministry of Information and Communications, departments of Information and Communications, and businesses in the ICT sector.

In his opening speech, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Mr. Pham Duc Long, who is also the Head of the Event Organization Committee, stated that the Northern Information and Communications Sports Event in 2023 featured the participation of 31 teams, including 7 teams from the Ministry of Information and Communications, 16 teams from Northern provincial Departments of Information and Communications, and 8 teams from ICT-related businesses.

This year marks the first time the Northern Information and Communications Sports Event has been organized with over 700 athletes competing in various sports disciplines. The event provides a lively platform for civil servants, employees, and laborers in the Information and Communications sector in the Northern region to foster unity and connect different agencies, units, and localities. It also serves as an opportunity for personnel in the Information and Communications sector to meet, exchange knowledge, and share experiences in their management, professional skills, and expertise, contributing to the successful execution of their assigned tasks at the local and unit levels.

Deputy Minister Pham Duc Long emphasized that the event aims to promote physical education and sports, promote the image and culture of Northern provinces, as well as foster the concern of the leadership of the Ministry, agencies under the Ministry of Information and Communications, departments of Information and Communications, businesses, and entities in the Information and Communications sector towards sports, culture, and people’s health.

At the opening ceremony, athlete Nguyen Van Cuong from the Lai Chau Department of Information and Communications represented all athletes in taking the sportsmanship oath.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Thinh, Head of the Physical Education Department at the Post and Telecommunication Institute of Technology, pledged, on behalf of the referees, to officiate matches fairly and objectively.
